How to become a member

Being a member of the Natural History Society means supporting scientific research in Portugal and the West region!

The following advantages are reserved for members of the Natural History Society:

​

  1. Use of all the Institution's logistical and technological resources to support studies and investigations (as long as they fall within the institution's areas of intervention);​

  2. Discounts between 5 and 50% and preference for registration in technical training and workshops organized by the Natural History Society;

  3. Institutional support for carrying out research projects in the areas of Paleontology, Geology, Archeology, Biology or others considered relevant (Dependent on approval by the Scientific Committee);

  4. Free participation in internal training (Reserved for members);

  5. Access to a specialized library with more than 3700 periodicals and monographs.

Quotas

€12 per year for Student Members* and scholarship holders
*It is assumed that all members <26 years old are students. Students aged 26 or over must send proof to: geral@alt-shn.org

€18 per year for Effective Members and Effective Researchers

​

€12 per year for Effective Members and Effective Researchers residing more than 50km from the Headquarters

​

EXEMPTION: Unemployed (if duly proven) and retired;

​

Membership status is validated upon payment of the membership fee for the current year. Membership confirmation is carried out at the beginning of each year.
